Since its inception in 1961, God has sent capable people to serve as staff members.  Our office staff is comprised of directors, field administrators, and executive assistants.  Each staff member brings to BWM qualities that benefit the entire ministry.  We are happy to serve with such special people.

What our Missionaries are Saying ..

Partners!

Baptist World Mission has been a wonderful ministry partner! Their Stateside support has been invaluable to us in administrative tasks, spiritual insights, and a general partnership to ‘go with the Gospel’ based on a fellowship of loving, caring Believers. From phone calls to the Home Office for help, to visits by our Field/Executive Directors, we have found working with BWM to be a BLESSING!

The Stand

I grew up hearing BWM missionaries in our church. I was always impressed by their convictions and love for what God has called them to do. I love the accountability of our board and it’s high expectations for those who would apply. BWM has kept the bar high for God’s servants. But, with that stand, has come consistent, loving leadership from a family-type atmosphere filled with encouragement and faithful prayers. We know that BWM is behind us as we serve the Lord. They do an enormous amount of work for each missionary family. They are very good stewards of their responsibility and provide quality help at a very low price.  I’m proud to be a BWM missionary and thank the Lord for making us a part of what has proven to be a great missionary agency.

BWM … We love you!

I remember when we first were looking for a mission board – back in the early 90’s. There were several things that drew us to BWM like a sponge draws water. The two biggest draws for us were first, the room they gave the missionary to follow the Holy Spirit’s leading when on the field, without dictating every move; and, there were no field councils.

BWM has the policy that each missionary is first responsible to God, and then answerable to his sending church. There is such freedom here to follow God’s leading, and let God direct what is being done. BWM gives God His rightful place in the activity of the missionary on the field.  The mission is also missionary oriented. All is done to enable the missionary to accomplish his tasks as easily as possible. When I was sick with Mad Cow Disease, the mission office jumped into high gear like a well-oiled and well practiced team. How thankful we are for BWM.  They are great team players with the missionary and the church. Without them, we could not accomplish all that has already been done on the field.

A Right Fit

Baptist World Mission is the right fit for us because it truly is the handmaiden of the local church. Churches send missionaries, and BWM assists churches with the complexities of carrying out ministry in a foreign country. They bear a good portion of the stress and labor that otherwise would be carried by us and our sending church, all while recognizing the authority of our sending church. We love the BWM family.

Came to BWM Through Prayer!

My choice of BWM was somewhat biased, I suppose, as my parents were missionaries with the board when I was a child. However, when the Lord started leading me toward missions, I began praying about which board He wanted me to work under. I really appreciated Baptist World Mission’s firm stand on the Bible, its distinctively Baptist philosophy, and the rich heritage that has backed it since its inception. I already knew several of the staff at BWM and I easily remembered times that the Lord had used many of them to encourage me spiritually. As soon as I joined the board, the staff quickly welcomed me warmly and made me feel like a part of the family.

If I have a question for someone at the mission, I can easily pick up a phone or simply send them an e-mail. They are always quick to respond and even if they do not know the answer to my question, they try to find it.

Recently, due to a medical issue, my thankfulness for the board grew. While each of the requirements of the board has significance, some of the requirements are not always as appreciated as they should be until you yourself see the full ramifications of them. Health insurance is one of these things. As the situation with my medical issue started to unfold, I was able to trust the Lord more fully and not worry about the medical expenses, due to the required health insurance.

Unchanging Stand

I am so thankful for the encouragement and guidance of Dr. Parker as to a mission board. I was appointed in Atlantic City and I am so thankful for the founding of BWM. I value greatly the patience shown to me in my errors and often times slowness in understanding change. Those who minister in the office as well as the field representatives are true, loving servants of the Lord. I have always felt at liberty to express my opinion, even though I might not be in agreement concerning an issue on the field. I value so much the example of the Godly men and women and for their counsel and guidance and encouragement to me. When I get a note or call that ends with the words; “we love you and pray for you¨ I know they are not just words and I believe what they say.  BWM is not just a mission board with a true concern to be faithful in caring about the lost and fulfilling of the Great Commission, but a mission board with a love and concern for those who believe God has directed them to BWM. In these days of so many changes, I am thankful for a mission board that remains true to the Word.

Under the Local Church

After researching three boards, I realized that Baptist World Mission was the board that was for me. There is much that I enjoy and appreciated about Baptist World Mission. First they are under the local church. What I mean by this is that they do not overstep the authority of the local church. Baptist World Mission abides by the decisions of the church in the life and ministry of their missionary. Also many of the members of the board of Baptist World Mission are/were pastors of independent fundamental Baptist churches.

Baptist World Mission makes sure that their missionaries are accountable for what they are doing. They do this in many different ways. First all missionaries are required to meeting with the field committee at least every six years. The missionaries are required to write at least four prayer letters a year and send a report to their field administrator every other month. The field administrator and usually his wife frequently visit the missionaries on the mission field.

Then Baptist World Mission staff is great! I have Skype and call them frequently. They are always ready and willing to help.
